Greetings!
Organizations are being breached, passwords and credentials are being stolen by the millions, and identity theft and credit card fraud cases are on the rise. The recent hack of celebrities’ Apple accounts was just another reminder of how vulnerable to theft our “confidential” data can be. As always, security remains a high priority issue for LaSalle Consulting Partners, and based on discussions with our clients they also share that concern. To help strengthen client security, we now offer a managed web protection and filtering product that is available for a low monthly cost. The product is called Web Protection. Web Protection provides a layered security approach and includes the following features:
- Blocks Internet security risks automatically.
- Allows you to establish policies for monitoring websites only, blocking websites by category, or simply monitoring during office hours.
- Works whether the device is in the office or outside of the office.
- Monitors bandwidth usage. Optionally can alert you regarding excessive bandwidth usage (a common symptom of security problems).
- Helps secure computers from malware, phishing, proxies, spyware, adware, botnets, and spam.
Web Protection is the latest addition to our existing suite of managed security services:
- Patch Management – Windows & Third Party patches – perform and report on a regular basis.
- Automated Maintenance and Tasks – Deploy any type of script and execute.
- Managed Antivirus – Complete management with proactive protection of end point devices.
- Managed Online Backup – Cloud backup, data retention and security, disaster recovery and planning, and test restorations.
These managed services can assist in ensuring a secure network, and can result in reduced ongoing maintenance costs. Please contact one of our consultants for additional information.

Office 365: A More Cost-Effective Option for Business
used with permission from HTS |
As you know, moving to the cloud is a popular solution that many small businesses have decided to take action on. If you aren’t a “tech” person, then it can be scary to think of all of your programs or files saved in the cloud, floating in “outer space” where you can’t physically touch it. Believe me, I’ve been there! But, if you start to research your options, moving to the cloud, especially with Office 365 is a smart option that is more cost-effective than the traditional on-premise option for small businesses with more than 1 PC. |

used with permission from Microsoft Security Tips & Talk
by Eve Blakemore |
In April, Microsoft ended support for Windows XP. This means that if your computer is still running Windows XP, you are no longer receiving security updates.
Several tech news sources have recently reported a change that you can make to your Windows registry (known as a “registry hack”) that tells your Windows XP computer that it’s running Windows Embedded or Windows Server 2003. |
